About the film
Agfapan APX 25 is a panchromatic black-and-white 120 film from Agfa, rated ISO 25. It was one of the finest-grained films of its day: the low speed buys very fine grain and crisp detail. Agfa discontinued it in the early 2000s, so it cannot be bought new any more. It went out of date in January 1998.
What to expect
Slow black-and-white emulsions age more gracefully than fast ones, but after almost thirty years some fog is still possible: slightly lower contrast and greyer shadows. How much is not knowable in advance — it depends on how the film was stored.
Who it suits
Medium-format cameras, landscape, architecture and still life on a tripod — wherever maximum detail matters and the low speed is no obstacle. And anyone who wants to shoot a legendary film that is no longer made.
One practical note
Give it extra exposure: rate it at ISO 12 rather than the nominal 25 and develop in ordinary black-and-white chemistry. If the frames matter, shoot one roll as a test first.
