Film Development
I provide manual development services for color and black-and-white photographic materials using the main classic processes, as well as selected alternative ones. I have experience working with both modern films and old, expired, and non-standard photographic materials.
It is fair to say: if it is photographic film, I will most likely be able to develop it.
The available equipment allows me to process film in various formats, including formats up to A4. Each film is developed manually and individually for every order, taking into account the film type, condition, age, storage history, and desired result.
I work with the following processes:
- •C-41 — standard development of color negative photographic films.
- •Black-and-white negative process — development of classic black-and-white negative films.
- •Black-and-white positive process / slide — processing black-and-white film as a positive image.
- •E-6 — development of color positive, slide photographic films.
- •Cross-process — non-standard film processing in a different chemical process to achieve experimental color and contrast.
- •ECN-2 — development of color motion picture film with a rem-jet backing layer, adapted for still photography.
- •Svema and ORWO — processing of old color films using appropriate or adapted historical processes.
Development with film speed correction is also available: push or pull processing. This can help compensate for underexposure, overexposure, or achieve the desired contrast and negative density.
Unfortunately, I am temporarily not accepting 110 / 16 mm film for development. All other supported formats can be submitted for processing according to the available development options.
Thanks to specialized equipment, knowledge of photochemical processes, and practical experience with different types of film, I develop each roll carefully, consistently, and by hand — with the same attention I would give to my own film.
Scanning
Film scanning is a digitisation process where each frame is converted into a digital image preserving texture, grain, and original colour rendering. It allows you to conveniently store, edit, and share photographs without loss of quality.
I perform professional film scanning (35mm, medium format) using archival-grade equipment, the Epson Perfection V850 Pro.
Film digitisation allows you to:
- preserve frames in digital format
- get maximum detail and dynamic range
- prepare photographs for printing or sharing
I adjust scanning parameters for each film, from modern to expired, unstable stock.
From development to finished file.
You shoot — I develop and carefully convert your film to digital format, preserving its character.
FAQ
How do I send film for development?+
You can drop it off in Kyiv or ship via Ukrposhta / Nova Poshta / Meest.
How long does development take?+
Standard turnaround is 1 business day.
Can I get development without scanning?+
Yes, I offer development-only with negatives returned, no scanning.
How long does scanning take?+
1 business day. For 135 format (35mm), the film will be cut into strips of 6 frames and carefully packed into an archival sleeve for storage. Medium format film is cut into strips of 3 frames.
Can large slides be digitized?+
Yes, I can scan film / Polaroid / printed photos up to A4 format.
