Film Ferrania P33: a new medium-speed black and white film
P33 is a new panchromatic black and white film from Film Ferrania, rated ISO 160/23° with a normal characteristic curve. 135 format, 36 exposures. It is made in Ferrania’s revitalised factory in Cairo Montenotte, Italy, on the site of the original plant.
Compared with P30 it is simpler and more versatile: fine grain and ordinary, predictable contrast. Ferrania designed it to remove the development and printing difficulties P30 users ran into, so P33 suits experienced photographers and newcomers to film alike.
Best for
- street and travel photography in daylight;
- portraits that need gentle rather than harsh contrast;
- a first black and white film that is not fussy to develop.
Frequently asked questions
How is P33 different from P30?
P30 is a high-contrast film with a character of its own that is not always easy to develop and print. P33 has normal contrast and fine grain, so it behaves more predictably.
How do I develop P33?
Like any black and white negative film. You can order development and scanning from me.
