About the film

Fujichrome Astia 100F is a professional daylight-balanced colour reversal (slide) film from Fujifilm, 135 format, 36 exposures, ISO 100. It was made for portrait and fashion work: softer contrast than Velvia or Provia, natural skin tones and fine grain. It is developed in E-6. Fujifilm has discontinued it. It went out of date around 2000.

What to expect

Slide film shows its age more than negative film. After this long expect possible colour shifts, lower contrast and shallower blacks. How much is not knowable in advance — it depends on how the film was stored.

One practical note

Give it extra exposure: rate Astia 100F at ISO 50 rather than the nominal 100 and develop in E-6 — or in C-41 for a cross-process look. If the frames matter, shoot one roll as a test first.
