About the film

This is ordinary fresh ILFORD FP4 Plus 125 in the limited “145 Years Limited Edition” box, released for ILFORD’s 145th anniversary — the company was founded in 1879. A yellow and blue box in the style of classic ILFORD packaging, with the same black and white emulsion inside, made in England. It expires in February 2029.

What kind of film it is

FP4 Plus is a medium-speed panchromatic black and white negative film with fine grain, high sharpness and a wide tonal range. It is the film for portraits, landscape, architecture and anything where detail matters and light is plentiful. It handles overexposure well and works with pull and push processing within a stop or two.

Shooting and developing

Box speed is ISO 125. It develops in any standard black and white developer — ID-11, Ilfosol 3, DD-X, Perceptol and the like; take the time from the ILFORD chart. If you would rather not develop it yourself, I develop black and white film in my own lab.

Shoot it or keep it?

The anniversary box is a limited run. The easy answer is to take two: shoot one, keep the other.
