About the film

Kodak Eastman Double-X 5222 is a black-and-white panchromatic negative motion-picture film that photographers have long used for stills as well. Box speed is ISO 250 in daylight and 200 under tungsten. It is respooled from a cine roll into standard 135 cassettes.

Look

The classic cinematic black-and-white look, with visible grain and a wide tonal range. Good for street, portrait and indoor work.

Shooting and developing

The cassettes are not DX-coded: set ISO 250 on the camera by hand. There is no remjet layer, so it develops in any standard black-and-white process — D-96, D-76, HC-110 and similar. I can develop and scan it for you.
