Why shoot ISO 100

The lower the speed, the finer the grain and the more detail the frame holds — an ISO 100 negative takes a big print and a crop far better than ISO 400. The price is light: this is a film for sun, beaches, snow, mountains, midday and tripod work.

Look and colour

KODACOLOR 100 is a Kodak consumer colour negative film, daylight balanced, moderate contrast. Kodak does not publish a full technical datasheet for it, so judge the look from your own tests: expect a calm, not over-saturated image with fine grain.

Exposure

Box speed is ISO 100. The sunny-16 rule applies: in open sun that is 1/125 at f/16, or 1/250 at f/11. In shade, under cloud or indoors there is no headroom left — you will need a tripod, a fast lens or flash. Like any colour negative film, it takes an extra stop of light better than underexposure.

C-41 development
