About the film

Kodak ProFoto 100 is a Kodak Professional colour negative film for the standard C-41 process, ISO 100, in a 135 cassette with 36 exposures. It expired in August 2008. Sold individually, without the cardboard box — the cassette only.

What to expect

Eighteen years past its date, a colour emulsion loses some speed and may show light base fog and a colour shift. How much depends on how this cassette was stored.

How to shoot it

For film this age I set the meter to ISO 50 or lower, i.e. at least one stop of extra exposure. Negative film forgives overexposure far better than underexposure: the shadows keep their detail and the fog shows less.

Frequently asked questions

Can it be developed in ordinary C-41?

Yes, it is the standard C-41 process — I develop films like this in my own lab.

Why no box?

These cassettes were stored without their factory cardboard boxes. It makes no difference to the film itself.
