About this film

Kodak UltraMax 400 is a colour negative film rated at ISO 400 in 135 format with 36 exposures, processed in C-41. Fresh stock, best before 12/2027.

What you get

Sold by the roll: one cassette in an unlabelled storage canister, without the cardboard box. Kodak packs it in threes, so I include the box only when you take all three rolls.

Image character

Warm colour rendition with slightly higher saturation and contrast than the professional Kodak Portra 400. The grain is more visible and the exposure latitude narrower than Portra’s, but resolution is a little higher and the price considerably lower.

Best uses

An all-weather everyday film: travel, street, family, action, indoors with flash and on overcast days.

Practical advice

ISO 400 helps keep shutter speeds short in dull weather; indoors, use flash or reasonably bright light.

Processing: standard C-41. I can develop and scan it for you — film development and scanning. There is also a boxed Kodak UltraMax 400 three-pack.
