About the film

Lomography Babylon Kino 13 is a black-and-white panchromatic negative cine film, ISO 13, 135 format, 36 exposures, respooled by Lomography from German motion-picture stock. This is expired film: it was best before 05/2023.

Look

Very fine grain, soft grey tones, low contrast and wide exposure latitude. It resolves fine detail well and suits portraits.

Shooting and developing

ISO 13 is very slow: you need bright light, a fast lens (f/1.4–2.8) or a tripod. The cassette is not DX-coded — set the ISO by hand. Slow black-and-white films age slowly, so for a recently expired roll box speed or a third of a stop extra is enough. Processing: standard black-and-white. I can develop and scan it for you.
