About the film
Svema Foto 100 is a black-and-white panchromatic negative film, ISO 100, 135 format, 36 exposures. It is made by Astrum Ltd in Shostka, Ukraine — the company carrying on Svema’s work on its machinery. The emulsion is coated on a clear 0.10 mm polyester base. This batch comes in a plain plastic cassette and is dated April 2026.
Look
Fine grain, high sharpness and fairly high contrast: deep blacks, a crisp graphic look, and textures of stone, metal and foliage that read well. Its sensitivity extends into the near infrared, up to 750 nm, so an R72 filter gives IR-like frames.
What the 04/2026 date means
The film went out of date in April 2026 — only a few months ago. For an ISO 100 black-and-white film that changes almost nothing: no noticeable fog or loss of speed is expected after so short a time. That is why it costs less than a fresh batch.
Shooting and developing
The cassette is not DX-coded: set ISO 100 on the camera by hand. The cassette itself carries no label, so mark it if you carry several films. Load it in the shade. Shoot it at box speed, ISO 100 — no extra exposure for age is needed. Processing: standard black-and-white; I can develop and scan it for you.
