Tasma KN-2: old black-and-white cine film for experiments

Tasma KN-2 is a Soviet black-and-white 35mm cine film with a low nominal speed of about ISO 32. This batch is heavily expired material from 1967, so it should be treated as an experimental vintage stock rather than predictable fresh film.

Reference data for fresh KN-2 mentions high resolving power of about 100 lines/mm and use in bright daylight outdoor shooting. In practice, film this old may show fog, reduced contrast, unstable speed and more visible grain. That is part of the appeal: the result can be raw, graphic and very different from modern emulsions.

Best for

  • photographers who enjoy testing old Soviet and cine film stocks;
  • bright daylight, tripod work or cameras with manual exposure control;
  • frames where fog, texture, unpredictability and vintage defects are welcome.

Test frames are strongly recommended, with exposure and development adjusted for the specific roll. This is a character stock, not a guaranteed clean commercial film.
