German design on a Japanese base
The Selectronic 2 is built on the Japanese Chinon CA-4, but carries Agfa's own design and the recognisable orange Sensor release button. The controls follow early-1980s logic: no menus, everything under your fingers.
Shooting modes and metering
The camera works in aperture priority: you set the aperture and it picks a shutter speed steplessly between 1 s and 1/1000 s. There is a B setting for long exposures and an X setting for flash, synced at 1/100 s. Metering is centre-weighted TTL.
Pentax K mount: a huge choice of lenses
The Selectronic 2 uses the Pentax K mount, so a very large pool of glass fits it: Agfa's own lenses, the whole Pentax K line and third-party makers. It is one of the cheapest systems to build a lens kit around on the used market.
The Agfa Color Coated 50mm f/1.9 lens
The included Agfa Color Coated 50mm f/1.9 is a classic standard lens with good sharpness and natural colour rendering. f/1.9 is enough for indoor shooting and for gentle background separation in portraits.
Power and film
Power comes from three SR44 cells (alkaline LR44 also fit, but drain faster). It takes standard 35mm film, format 135: colour, black-and-white or slide.
