E-6 fixer

Description

The last E-6 bath: it washes out the silver halide left by the bleach and leaves a clear slide whose image is carried entirely by dyes.

Why a slide should be clear

A finished E-6 transparency has no grey veil at all — no silver remains in it. Any density in the clear areas means either under-fixing or under-bleaching, and both can be corrected by repeating those steps while the film is still wet.

On timing

An under-fixed slide clouds over the years. Over-fixing is practically impossible, so allow a margin.
