What remjet is and why the prebath

Cine negative carries a black anti-halation layer of carbon held on mechanically. It has to be washed off BEFORE development or it contaminates every subsequent solution and streaks the frame. The prebath is precisely what separates a complete ECN-2 kit from a C-41 one.

Ready solutions or concentrates

Same chemistry; the difference is the form and the cost per roll. Ready solutions are simpler to start with, concentrates cheaper if you process cine stock regularly.

Questions and answers

How much water does removing remjet take?

Rinse until the run-off is completely clear — usually several changes. It is the longest step of the process and the one you cannot shorten.
