Description

A developer for microfilm and extremely fine-grained emulsions, diluted 1+50. It was made for document work, where resolution matters more than tonality.

Which films it is for

Slow, high-resolution stock — technical, copying and microfilm emulsions. An ordinary developer gives those excessive contrast and a black-and-white sieve instead of mid-tones; Micratol-2 holds the contrast back and makes them usable for ordinary photography.

What to expect

Very fine grain and high resolution — microfilm’s strengths, which this developer preserves. Effective speed stays low: such emulsions are rarely faster than ISO 25–50.

Questions and answers

Will it do for ordinary ISO 400?

It will work, but there is little point — it was built for other emulsions. For ISO 400 take D-76, X-TOL or Microphen.
