Moersch Eco 4812 is a liquid concentrate for developing black and white paper, 1 litre, free of toxic ingredients.
What it is for
A developer whose green credentials are not bought at the cost of results: base fog stays within 0.00–0.02 and maximum black runs 2.00–2.30 depending on the paper. Those are normal figures for a good classic developer. Contrast is controllable: at 1+10 with the time cut to two minutes, it rises noticeably.
How to dilute it
The working dilution is 1+14.
Development time at 1+14 is 2½ to 3 minutes.
The solution is replenishable — kept and reused, with development time extended as it exhausts. Keep count of the films put through it; that is the only way to avoid an underdeveloped roll at the end of its life.
Storage
Sealed concentrate keeps well but dislikes air: the emptier the bottle, the faster it oxidises. Decant the remainder into a smaller bottle, or displace the air — that is what gets a concentrate to its last measure.
How it compares
With the Separol line, this is the second route to a safer darkroom. Eco 4812 is liquid and therefore easier day to day; Separol is powder and keeps longer.
