Description
An East German classic: ORWO’s universal paper developer as a 1+4 to 1+6 concentrate. Neutral tone, moderate contrast and very even behaviour across papers from different makers.
What it is known for
ORWO-105 was the standard paper developer across Eastern Europe for decades, and many people remember its character as simply «normal»: neither cold nor warm, with no surprises in the mid-tones. On modern variable-contrast papers it behaves just as evenly.
Dilution
1+4 is faster and more contrasty, 1+6 softer. The same lever as D-72 over a different range: the concentrate is stronger here, so a bottle makes more working solution.
Questions and answers
Is it suitable for fibre-based paper?
Yes. The tone is neutral, so fibre paper will not shift cold or warm — the paper sets the character.
