Description

Two working solutions for colour optical printing — developer, and BLIX, which bleaches and fixes together. Three items in the box: the developer is two-part, a liquid concentrate A plus a powder sachet B.

Why only two solutions

RA-4 combines bleaching and fixing into a single BLIX bath, so the whole cycle is develop, BLIX, wash. Three minutes from exposure to a finished print, and no darkness needed after the developer: colour paper is no longer light-sensitive at that stage.

What else you need

An enlarger with a colour head or filter set, colour paper, and a stable 35 °C for the developer — RA-4 is far more temperature-sensitive than black-and-white printing. A degree out shifts the colour balance visibly.

Questions and answers

Can you print colour without a colour head?

Yes, with correction filters under the lens, though you will find the balance by testing. A colour head gets there faster.
