Rollei RBM Black Magic 3 Variable is a liquid light-sensitive emulsion, 300 мл, for coating your own support.
What it is for
A variable-contrast emulsion: grade is set with multigrade filters at exposure, exactly as on ordinary variable-contrast paper. That is freedom — one jar covers the whole range from soft to hard.
How to dilute it
Warm the emulsion in a water bath until it flows and apply it by brush or by pouring, under red safelight. Once dry, the support has become photographic paper: expose it under the enlarger and develop in an ordinary paper developer.
Storage
Store in the dark and cool — this is a light-sensitive material, not ordinary chemistry. It can be re-warmed many times, but each cycle shortens its life a little, so warm it in portions.
How it compares
The point of the system is that anything becomes photographic: watercolour paper, fabric, wood, glass, ceramic, metal. Ready-made paper is simpler and cheaper — Black Magic is bought for the support you cannot buy.
