Description
Agfa Studinol, also known as Rodinal Special: para-aminophenol with sulphite, diluted 1+15. Finer grain than ordinary Rodinal and without its sharp character.
How it differs from Rodinal
The same developing agent, but with a great deal of sulphite — and sulphite dissolves silver and smooths grain. Studinol therefore loses Rodinal’s signature edge effect and gives an even, almost neutral negative instead. They are two tools from one family, not an improved Rodinal.
When to use it
When you like Rodinal for its predictability but the grain on ISO 400 gets in the way. 1+15 is the working dilution, used once.

Why such a strong dilution?
The sulphite dilutes the activity, so the working concentration is higher than Rodinal’s. The yield in the name is for 1+15.
