BFR-1 Stabilizer Mount
A universal fixation and stabilization system for high-speed and conventional processing—from aerophotographic film to X-rays.
About Fixage
The BFR-1 Fixer-Stabilizer is used for rapid and standard fixing of a wide range of photographic materials: aerial photographic materials, photographic films, photographic papers, and photographic plates, including X-ray plates. Craftsmen also successfully use this fixer for tanning leather.
Character
Universal rhodanide type—suitable for both rapid and standard fixation.
How to Prepare and Use
- 1In 0.7–0.8 liters of water at a temperature of about 40 °C, dissolve the contents of packets 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 one after another while stirring—add each subsequent packet only after the previous one has completely dissolved.
- 2Package 1 — anhydrous sodium sulfite (5 g); package 2 — sodium metabisulfite (30 g); package 3 — ammonium thiocyanate (50 g); Packets 4 and 5 — crystalline sodium thiosulfate (108 g and 242 g).
- 3After all the substances have dissolved, let the solution cool to room temperature and bring the volume up to 1.0 liter.
- 4The solution can be used immediately after preparation.
Recipe for 1 liter (5 packets)

5 g
Anhydrous sodium sulfite (Package 1)

30 g
Sodium metabisulfite (Package 2)

50 g
Ammonium thiocyanate (Package 3)

108 g
Crystalline sodium thiosulfate (Package 4)

242 g
Crystalline sodium thiosulfate (Package 5)
Dissolve the packets strictly in the order 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 in water at ≈40 °C—adding each only after the previous one has completely dissolved—then bring the volume up to 1 liter.
